Western Desert

Forming the northeast flank of the Sahara, the Western Desert spreads from the banks of the Nile towards Libya, covering 2.8 million sq km. The Arabs refer to the area as ‘the land abandoned by God’ and much of it remains unexplored. The landscape is bizarre and beautiful in equal measure, and a journey through the desert’s main oases makes a fascinating alternative route from Cairo to Luxor. Siwa, near the Libyan border, is more easily reached from Alexandria.

Taba, in the eastern Sinai peninsula of Egypt, marks the location of the southern border crossing between Egypt and Israel, servicing travellers coming into Egypt and Sinai via Eilat. The town has grown up around the border crossing and offers basic amenities for travellers - these will no doubt be greatly enhanced when a new "Taba Heights" development gathers pace. Taba is a relatively minor centre for Red Sea diving.

St. Cathrine town is a town of a distinguished type of privacy.It is the highest of the inhabited area in Sinai. It is located at the top of a plateau that rises to 1600m above the sea level, and it is surrounded by a series of the highest mountains not only in Sinai but in Egypt as a whole.

134km2 south of AL Qusseir. It is a suitable place for fishing and diving,connected to Edfu by a desert road 280km long. Due to its proximity to Luxor and the shrine of Abu AL-Hassan AL-Shazli,it is considered a big tourist centre which avails the tourist the chance of visiting the important monumental sites and at the same time enjoying the pleasures of the Red Sea and its exotic beaches.

The New Valley

The New Valley is the biggest governorate in Egypt, covering an area of 458,000 square kilometers, about one fifth of the total surface area of Egypt. It extends in the north as far as Marsa Matrouh, in the south as far as Sudan and in the west as far as Libya. In the east it is coterminous with the governorates of Assiut, Qena and Aswan.
